2900 Carlisle Blvd NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87110
After 37 years of renting, borrowing rehearsal space, and leaky roofs, The Vortex Theatre moved to the current space at 2900 Carlisle NE in August 2014. The first performance at the Carlisle location was Picasso at the Lapin Agile, by Steve Martin and directed by Martin Andrews. The Carlisle site includes the black-box theatre, rehearsal space, off-street parking, larger, more comfortable public restrooms, quieter heating and air conditioning, ample storage space, and a modern, spacious lobby.
The move required extensive improvements to the building, including a new heating and cooling system, electrical development for theatrical lighting, a looping system for the hard-of-hearing, and ADA accessibility. Now, with the support of our generous patrons, new, more comfortable seating is within reach!
A Seatbank Fund has been launched to help us raise the expected cost of $50,000. Already, the Vortex has received $10,000 in challenge grants. Your additional gift to the seatbank fund will allow us to meet those challenges. For each seatbank fund donation of $150 or more, we'll recognize your gift with a plaque on one of our new chairs.
You already know that a world with live, local theatre is a better world. Please help us continue to bring that gift to New Mexico for another 40 years and beyond.
