The Greek god Dionysus has returned to the modern world disguised as butch gardener Diane, here to gather mortal followers and restore the earth to its natural state. Looking for:

CAROL FLEISHER, any age 30+. Concerned with appearances and deeply unhappy. She has a “In this house we believe…” placard on her lawn, but signs petitions to block affordable housing in her neighborhood. Carol knows what she wants, and knows she deserves it, no matter what...

RENEE SHAPIRO-EPPS, any age 30+. She’s smart, competitive, and forward-thinking. She’s the only woman of color on the masthead of an interior design magazine, a job she worked very hard to obtain. She dated a woman in college, and likes to remind people of this. She wants to feel valued...

BETH WANN, any age 25+. Wispy, quiet, a little lost since her husband left her - something she didn’t expect but her friends did. She has no income and is thinking of selling her house. Beth wants something, but she isn’t sure what; maybe she wants to be saved...

Dracula (Auditions)
May 20-21, 2023

Audition details...
Dracula
By Mac Wellman
Directed by Chad Brummett
Audition times:
Saturday, May 20, 2023 1-4pm
Sunday, May 21, 2023 6-7:10pm
Synopsis:
Set at the end of the 19th century, Dracula is an absurdist adaptation by post-modernist playwright Mac Wellman (A Murder of Crows, The Hyacinth Macaw). Told in a non-linear, sometimes non-sensical manner, this version of Bram Stoker's novel is ripe with temptation, discovery, death and Alicia Keys.  This ain't your grandmother's Dracula.... it's more like your crazy drunk uncle's Dracula—the one that believes in vampires and Tom Waits.
Looking for:

Mina (female, 20's-30's):  Wife to solicitor Jonathan Harker. Worrisome, indulgent on chloral.  Wants to be a good wife ... on the surface. (British dialect)

Lucy (female, 20's-30's): Mina's best friend. Enjoys being the center of attention; flirtatious, dangerous. Knows how to get what she wants. (British dialect)

Jonathan Harker (male, 20's-30's): Dutiful solicitor at first, ravenous blood-thirsty revenant at last. An amalgam of Harker and Renfield from Bram Stoker's novel. (British dialect)

Dracula (male 30's-50's): Bringer of death and destruction, tantalizing, comical; must play a variety of ages and personas in the script. (Romanian dialect)

Dr. Seward (male 30's-40's): Director of asylum for the criminally insane. Not so secretly in love with Mina and Lucy. Desires to be a better man of science than he actually is. (British dialect)

Van Helsing (male 50's-60's): Seward's mentor. A man of science and metaphysical study. A bedwetter. (Dutch dialect)

Simmons (male 30's-60's): The muscle of the asylum. A lover of drink and women. Possibly was a pirate. (Cockney dialect)

Quincey Morris (male 20's-30's): A simple American. Lucy's suitor. A sore thumb to Seward and blood donor to his betrothed. Bleeds sand. (Southern American dialect)

The Vampyrettes (3 females, any age): The brides of Dracula. Also play multiple characters in the show. Comic relief, seductresses, musicians. They function like a Greek chorus at some points and are in a good majority of the show. (varying accents based on character's origins; musical and dance experience a plus.

Constellations (Auditions)
June 3-4, 2023

Audition details...
Constellations
By Nick Payne
Directed by Levi Gore
Audition times:
Saturday, June 3, 1:00-4:00 pm (at the Vortex)
Sunday, June 4, 1:00-4:00 pm (at University Heights Methodist Church, Silver and Yale)
Synopsis:

Suppose that life exists in a multiverse—a set of parallel existences that contain infinitely different futures. The possibilities in our lives are, quite literally, endless. Every possible event that could happen, does happen, in one universe or another. And if two lovers meet—are drawn together in every version of existence—every possible happy ending and heartbreak that could befall them, will.

Marianne, a physicist, and Roland, a beekeeper, meet at a party. They hit it off, and go for a drink. Or perhaps they don't. They go home together, or maybe they go their separate ways. Perhaps Marianne is engaged to someone else, perhaps Roland is. Maybe Marianne breaks Roland's heart, maybe Roland breaks Marianne's. Perhaps they come together and their love story can finally take root and grow, or perhaps it will be tragically cut short. Nick Payne's beautiful play, Constellations, explores how even the smallest change in our lives can dramatically alter the course we take. It is a spellbinding exploration of love, science, quantum theory, and infinite possibility for heartbreak or for hope.

Looking for:

Two actors, any gender, any age 20s-40s

From the director:The connection between the two characters is the most important thing and I am looking for two actors regardless of race, gender, and sexuality who show they can make strong choices, and change attitude, posture, and demeanor in an instant while maintaining a strong specific character and connection. LGBTQ and BIPOC are encouraged to audition.

Roland (Late 20s to early 40s Male-identifying, any ethnicity) A beekeeper. A grounded individual who loves bees, and the natural world; a bit awkward, shy, but smart, compassionate, and loving. (British accent)

Marianne (Late 20s to early 40s Female-identifying, any ethnicity) A theoretical physicist, interested in the multiverse concept of the universe. Intelligent, quick, and bold but vastly aware of mortality, dealing with a degenerative disorder (British accent)
