The Vortex Theatre is looking for a Front of House Manager. The FOHM is responsible for the smooth operation of both the lobby and audience seating area during the run of the show.

Job Description

House managers welcome the public to the theatre and oversee their safety and well-being before, during, and immediately after the show. They answer questions, listen to patrons' compliments and concerns, and make audience members feel welcome.The front-of-house staff may be the only members of the company who the audience interact with on a regular basis, so their interactions are of prime importance.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the house manager include: recruiting, training and supervising box office and concessions volunteers; coordinating building opening times with stage manager; checking restrooms before opening, after intermission and at end of night; cleaning house area and restocking supplies. The FOHM reconciles the ticket sales and concession sales and provides that information to the Vortex financial staff.

Qualifications

Applicants should be able to work Thursdays, Fridays, Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Applicants should have at least a high school education and be competent in handling money. Experience in customer service, public speaking, volunteer interaction and problem solving is required.
