Staged Reading Series

Soliciting Scripts for Staged Readings

Interested in having a staged reading or your script? Interested in seeing staged readings of in-process scripts by local playwrights? Local and regional playwrights are invited to submit scripts of plays of any length for consideration for a staged reading. The public is invited to attend these FREE public readings.

The reading series allows playwrights to hear their words come off the page to the stage. Selected plays will be assigned a director who will cast the play and negotiate attendance at rehearsals and possible re-writes, if any, with the director. If the playwright has a director in mind, every effort will be made to use that director. Usually 2-4 rehearsals are held prior to the reading. The readings are held on Sunday afternoons (usually 2 PM) at the Vortex Theatre. The playwright must be present to participate in a 30 minute discussion following the reading.

Selection of a play for reading does not imply consideration for a future production. While any subject matter is acceptable, selected plays must be ready for a reading and in an acceptable manuscript format. There is no charge to the playwright for the reading. Submissions should be sent to Staged Readings Series, c/o The Vortex Theatre, 2004½ Central Ave. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106. Box Office & Concessions Counter volunteers

Front-of-House (FOH) volunteers assist other theatre patrons by staffing the Box Office or Concessions Counter before each performance and during intermission.

FOH volunteers are one of our most valued resources. If you are already a FOH volunteer: Thank You! If you would like to become a Front of House volunteer, please submit the Volunteer Preferences form above. It's a great way to meet new people, see Vortex shows, and experience what the Vortex has to offer without making an extended commitment. See you at The Vortex!
